My mate has the week off so the progress is being made on the 106 racecar. Engine back out and ’cup box’ fitted, which is a smaller gearbox casing with the internals from a bigger peugeot gearbox homologated for motorsport use :)

Well, my mate’s always been into 106s, and he found some guys that were selling a race engine they had which he was going to use to start a racecar project. He ended up buying piecemeal the whole car more or less. It won the series it raced in before he bought it so it’s bloody quick! ~200bhp from an NA 1.6 and less than 750kg...

Nice! I like 106s. They are very fast and nimble if needed.

Does the gearbox still have regular internals or dog engagement?

Yeah they’re great fun :)

It’s still standard internals. You can get dog boxes relatively inexpensively for these, but that’s relatively inexpensive for a dog box , and the racing series this will race in doesn’t allow them...
